Release: Deconstructed EP
Just when you thought you knew Ke$ha the normally straight-talking, rebellious star has released a special EP, Deconstructed, with five acoustic versions of her latest tracks.
The pop star gives fans a taste of her vocal ability with stripped-back versions of hits such as ‘Die Young’ and ‘Blow’, which accompanied her second album ‘Warrior’.
Although you wouldn’t think these tracks would work without a heavy bassline, Ke$ha’s voice is surprisingly enchanting yet haunting, with the lack of autotune accentuating her incredible vocal abilities. With ballads’ such as ‘The Harold Song‘ receiving a production make-under, Ke$ha gives her tracks entirely new meaning and shows a completely different side .. and we love it! Warrior album track ‘Supernatural’ has you hooked from the very first ‘can you feel it?‘, with an eerie echo and a trudging drum beat that simply leaves you with chills.
What’s most impressive is Ke$ha’s cover of Dolly Parton’s ‘Old Flames Can’t Hold A Candle To You‘, which showcases the singers versatility by tackling this country hit and sets the bar high for the rest of the EP.
When Ke$ha burst onto the scene swigging Jack Daniels and riding a chopper bike in ‘Tick Tock‘, no one would have expected that she was capable of producing strong vocals that shine with minimal backing. Ke$ha has proved that she is no ‘one trick pony’ and can hold her own amongst a sea of pop vocalists. Hopefully we will see her release a ballad as one of her official singles very soon!
