This year’s Valentine’s Day was not just bouquets of flowers and boxes of chocolate, as JoJo has given us a little treat in the form of an EP titled ‘#LoveJo‘.
The four-track effort begins with an epic orchestral sound, as the R&B pro narrates, the 50-second clip ending with an alluring “Whisper I love you, I’m here to stay” before transitioning into second track ‘Caught Up In The Rapture‘, a soulful cover of Anita Baker’s original. JoJo’s voice has clearly developed from her ‘Leave (Get Out)‘ days but still remains light and delicate, the shifts between falsetto and the runs are exquisite. However, not to forget the production from Da Internz which is completely ingenious.
JoJo then puts her own spin on Phil Collins‘ ‘Take Me Home‘, a hauntingly good track that pretty much brings up the question – Where has this girl been?! To complete the project, JoJo ends angellically with a gospel opera rendition of Kathleen Battle’s ‘Glory‘. Her soothing vocals soar and really bring out the goosebumps teasing us of her outstanding talent and what is to come.
It’s truly criminal that JoJo’s last album was released eight years ago but with a new record label (Atlantic) we cannot wait to hear what is next. Bring on album number three!
