Pixie Lott has unveiled the audio for the lead single from her upcoming third studio album.
‘Nasty’ premiered on Capital FM radio on 10 January 2014.
The track was originally recorded by Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green as a duet for Aguilera’s soundtrack to the 2010 film that she starred in, ‘Burlesque’. However, it failed to make the final cut.
Lott explained that the song is not about being nasty “as in not being very nice,” rather, it is about being naughty. If this is true, then I wonder why Aguilera turned it away!
It is an upbeat song with elements of funk and soul and for the most part of the song, it retains a distinctly ‘Pixie’ feel, despite sounding like she is impersonating Aguilera with the vocal inflections and runs. The difference is, Lott actually hits the notes without straining or forcing herself.
Lott revealed that other singers including Aguilera had recorded the song, and that it was difficult to get her hands on it, especially because of the James Brown samples which were difficult to get the copyright approved for.
