HTF had the lovely pleasure of chatting to upcoming UK girl band M.O, who are ready to bring back that old school R&B sound!
Formed a couple of years ago, Annie, Frankee and Nadine are currently out on the road supporting Little Mix on their UK arena tour.
We spoke to the girls about how they feel touring with Little Mix, their upcoming music and all their plans for the rest of this year. Check it out below!
HTF: Hi Girls! How are you all doing?!
M.O: We are doing absolutely great! We are on tour at the moment with Little Mix and enjoying life!
HTF: How’s the tour going?
M.O: It’s beyond excited! We’re massive fans of Little Mix and the girls have been so nice so far, and we are excited to be main support.
HTF: What can people expect from your set?
M.O: One big party! With a little chilled out section and a chance to get to know M.O!
HTF: Is there one song you love performing more then others?
M.O: At the minute, it’s our brand new single ‘Dance On My Own’ and it’s all about girl power!
HTF: For those who are uncommon with your music how would you describe your sound in three words?
M.O: Cool, Fresh, ‘Old-School-R&B’ (the last word is one haha!)
HTF: You girls had released some promo singles before your latest ‘For A Minute’. Why was this song chosen as the first proper single release?
M.O: It’s a track we always wanted out there and the video and the song shows people what M.O is about.
HTF: You girls have the perfect urban pop flavour to your music. Did previous girl bands with a similar sound (Eternal, TLC, Destiny’s Child) have any influence on your music?
M.O: Yes they all definitely did! We grew up through 90’s RnB, that’s what we know and hope to bring back.
HTF: Who would you say are your musical inspirations?
Annie: Lauryn Hill
Frankee: Bob Marley
HTF: And if you could pick three artists/bands past or present to collaborate with, who would you choose and why?
M.O: Beyonce because she is Beyonce. Michael Jackson because he is the ultimate legend. Whitney Houston, because she had a voice I don’t think anyone could have.
HTF: For all three of you, you have been in previous groups that didn’t quite work out. Since you have been there before, do you think having a better understanding of how the music industry works has made it easier for you all?
M.O: Yes definitely! Our groups were all amazing experiences and we learnt a lot, but we have come into this band as stronger individuals and artists.
HTF: Did you girls always want to pursue a career in music or was there ever any other ambitions?
M.O: Music was always there from the start, I don’t think we could imagine doing anything else other than being performers.
HTF: You seem to have picked up quite a loyal fan base through social media and you also get to meet quite a few of them. Do you think social media has helped you progress as a band due to getting an instant reaction to whatever you put out there?
M.O: Massively! The music industry runs off social media these days. It’s direct access to our fans and allows them to be on the journey with us and share all our experiences.
HTF: So far, have you had any weird or crazy fan experiences that you can share?
M.O: Not yet! We have the best fans aka Mobsters, that follow us around the country and we don’t know what we would do without them!
HTF: Well thank you for chatting to us! Lastly, what can fans expect from you from the rest of this year? An album in the works? Your own tour?
M.O: We are working on our album now, it will be with you at the end of the year! We can’t wait, we’ve been working on it for the past year so we’re excited for people to hear our material! We are also playing a load of festivals across the summer including Wireless and we can’t wait for more people to know what M.O are all about!
The girls will be supporting Little Mix on their Salute Tour throughout Europe and will finish in Belfast on June 9th.
