Joe Satriani Reveals Album Plans For ‘Unstoppable Momentum’

Joe Satriani has confirmed the release of his new album ‘Unstoppable Momentum,’ set for UK release on may 6th and May 7th in the US, this will be his 14th studio album.

The Epic Records/Sony Music UK album was recorded at Skywalker Sound in San Francisco and was produced by both Satriani and AC/DC’s Mike Fraser.

The release of ‘Unstoppable Momentum’ comes the month before the start of Satriani’s UK tour – kicking off on Saturday 8th of June at Manchester Apollo.

Satriani began writing the album’s material after returning from the South American G3 Tour in October 2012. He recalls “A very prolific and cathartic two months followed resulting in a bundle of new music I was very excited to get recorded.”

For the record, Satriani assembled a new studio band, with Vinnie Colauita (Sting, Jeff Beck) on drums, Chris Chaney (Janes Addiction) on bass and Mike Keneally (Dethklok) on keyboards. “The idea was to crank up the energy level of the sessions, and allow for more individual expression from each player. The chemistry with Mike, Chris and Vinnie was fantastic and we blazed through the tracks with everyone laying down amazing performances.”

Speaking of the eleven songs selected for the record, Satriani described them as “heading in different directions and touching on a variety of musical influences.”
