The much-awaited summer season is finally here, meaning the next three months on our calendars are filled with festivals, beach days, holidays and other events. This is also the time when most of us start embracing their make-up free faces.
Before the summer heat kicks in, it is however very important to prep our skin well, especially because of the sun and the dry air which drains all the moisture from the skin. Add the lack of sleep and one too many alcohol glasses to the mixture, and the result is a stressed-out skin.
Cleanser – Washing your skin thoroughly is a key component to having amazing skin. Start your skincare routine by cleansing yourself well to get all the make-up, dirt, and oil off.
Scrub – The next step is to exfoliate your face and body to take away any dryness and remove dead skin cells.
Moisturiser – The heat at the workplace, at the shops, at the beach, and even at our house, drains the moisture out of our skin. It is therefore very important to moisturise your face and your whole body, giving special attention to your elbows, hands, and feet. Due to the summer sun, we suggest using a moisturiser with sun protection, to safeguard yourself from the sun’s harmful rays. It is also vital to increase your water intake in summer, especially if you drink much less than the 2-litre-a-day suggestion.
Lip Scrub – After all this prepping work is done, it is also essential to exfoliate away any lip flakes using a lip scrub. Then apply lip balm to your freshly exfoliated pout, let it soak in for a few minutes and you’re good to go.
Sunscreen – The last, but certainly the most important step in this summer skin care routine is to use sunscreen. Opt for an oil-free, sweat-proof formula to prevent it from sliding off your face and body.
