Gary Oldman has been cast as another lead in Matt Reeves‘ sequel ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes‘.
Matt Bomback is writing the script which takes place 15 years after the first movie, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, where we’ll find humanity has been totally wiped out, all but one group of scientists struggling to live in San Francisco, with Oldman playing the colony’s leader ‘Dreyfus’.
Bomback is known for his recent work on Die Hard 4.0 and the Total Recall remake, so is no stranger to a sci-fi blockbuster. Kodi Smith-McPhee and Jason Clarke have also been cast, although their roles have not been specified.
Andy Serkis will coming back as chimp leader Caesar, who faces his own struggles whilst trying to maintain his dominance over his kingdom and fellow apekind.
A release date has already been set for 23 May 2014, so stay tuned for any updates as we’ll be jumping on them as the come and sending them your way!
