Still dreaming of summer days gone by, filled with blissful festival moments? Look no further, here is a list of the best festivals for 2018!
The cold winter months are setting in, and the tents and fields are being swapped for dark warehouses, and sweaty basement clubs, to get our all important musical fix.
However, it also means there is an influx of festival announcements for 2018, and we thought we’d compile a nice and easy list, to help you decide where to frolick, for yet another upcoming festival season.
9th – 14th April
Perhaps not quite summer, but it’s definitely a spearhead for the start of the festival season. And it might be mountain ski resort, but it can also be known to reach highs of 20 degrees. I am of course referring to “The best show on snow”, Snowbombing.
Returning for its staggering nineteenth year, set in the town of Mayrhofen, Austria. The original mountain based snow and ski festival – where you can rave in an igloo, party in the forest, or witness world-class live acts play a stage on the top of a mountain.
Their second wave of artists has just landed and you can expect to see everyone from Liam Gallagher to Bicep. Pendulum to Craig David. And Dizzee Rascal to Dusky. Top DJ’s and live acts will play host to this buzzing ski resort for five whole nights. You can expect the unexpected, and you don’t even have to get your ski-legs. Why not swap the snowboarding for a hot tub in the forest? Or some alpine yoga? Or even chairlift speed dating!
Tickets and packages are available now.
5th – 6th May
In the fallow year of Glastonbury Festival, Arcadia brings its groundbreaking Metamorphosis show and 50-tonne fire-breathing spider to the heart of London, to celebrate their tenth anniversary.
Across the first bank holiday weekend, Londoners will be wowed by the fully immersive performance, with their signature fusion of circus, sculpture, engineering, art, dance music and 360-degree animatronics. All being backed by a ground-breaking light show, with the world’s finest DJ’s and electronic musicians channelling the night into a euphoric crescendo.
Lineups and exact location are still currently a closely guarded secret, but this one-off festival will undoubtedly be the hottest ticket of the summer.
Lost & Found Festival
3rd – 6th May
If you are looking further afield for your festival kicks, then look no further than Annie Mac’s Lost & Found Festival, in Malta.
Home to Game of Thrones, and fast becoming a top party destination Lost & Found is now into its fourth year. Lost & Found will offer 4 days and 4 nights of unique parties held across pools, boats, castles and an incredible outdoor nighttime festival site.
Headed up by BBC Radio 1’s chief tastemaker Annie Mac, this year’s line-up will be topped by British DJ-producer Jamie XX, Diplo, Four Tet and a whole host of extraordinary DJ talent. The likes of Kölsch, The Black Madonna, Mall Grab, Heidi and Bicep are also confirmed.
Tickets and packages are now available.
20th – 27th June
Taking place at an untouched paradise on the Albanian coast, Kala reveals the first acts that will provide the soundtrack for their week-long beach event with Moodymann, Underground Resistance, Peggy Gou, Maurice Fulton, Secretsundaze, Jayda G, Mister Saturday Night and more confirmed for the unmissable debut edition on Wednesday 20th June to Wednesday 27th June 2018.
A truly unique and immersive experience, Kala sets itself apart by adopting a carefree ethos, encouraging lengthy sets and loose running order across its array of unexpected open-air stages, offering guests unrestricted access to the beach caves, natural canyons and hiking trails that snake around the stunning site.
If Kala’s overall feel is free of regimented structure, the musical acts have been chosen in meticulous detail. Leading festival goers on a journey of sun-scorched discovery, Moodymann, enigmatic pioneer of Detroit house, and legendary techno collective Underground Resistance bring their Depth Charge live show, alongside DJ sets from Mark Flash and DJ 3000 at the unexplored coastline.
Fresh from announcing her latest EP on Ninja Tune, Peggy Gou adds to her rapidly rising stock in 2018 with an appearance at Kala’s idyllic surroundings, while Maurice Fulton and Jayda G channel Kala’s taste for flair and spontaneity in revered genre-spanning sets.
In addition to the stunning array of acts on the show, party goers are encouraged to investigate Kala further: there are hiking trails, wellness workshops, and authentic Albanian cuisine to be explored besides the crystal clear waters and shimmering sands of Kala’s immersive world.
