The Daily Star recently printed an interview with Dubstep icon Skream, claiming that he said Dubstep was over and he would be pursuing other ventures. He was quoted saying: “It’s the last dubstep show I’ll play until further notice. Dubstep is just a name now. It doesn’t have a meaning anymore and the movement is over. It’s like the end of a relationship, but it’s ended on a high.”
However, Skream has hit back on his twitter account, claiming that he did not say what has been printed. On the 28th May, Oliver Jones tweeted “Just to clarify, I never said Dubstep is dead…Pretty pissed off that I’ve been quoted saying that.”
He later expanded on the topic, saying “People who actually believe that I said dubstep is dead should know better. There’s a lot missing from the quotes that have been printed.”
Skream may well have admitted that he is “pushing and loving” other genres of music such as “House, techno [and] disco”, but also revealed that there is another Magnetic Man album on the horizon – so, who knows what he really said.
